Dink, Josh, and Ruth Rose came to Maine to meet Wallis Wallace.
WW told them the town gossip about Emory Scott and showed them their rooms. When they were in the path to the sandy beach, they heard a scream burst from the castle.
Near the sandy beach, there was a tunnel at the bottom of the cliff. The sea snaked into the tunnel to form a narrow river. Dink was considered about the scream. WW didn’t have an idea, except for the ghost of Emory Scott.
The children explored the playhouse and the cave. The heard a scream in the cave and run out.
The children searched the second-floor to find the secret room. But there was no finding. At midnight, Dink woke up suddenly and saw a ghostly light near the playhouse.
Dink told Josh and Ruth Rose about the light he’d seen in the woods. He thought someone was creeping around the playhouse. And then Walker was taking them lobstering.
Walker showed the children how to catch the lobsters. They met Rip in the ocean. After Rip left, Dink saw a bright green feather on Lady Luck’s deck.
The children wanted to have lunch outside of the playhouse. But Dink rolled up the dusty rug and found a trapdoor. The children went inside, saw lots of footprints, and heard a hollow scream echoed out of the dark hole.
Under the trapdoor was a long tunnel with two cages of parrots. The children tried to take the cages out of the tunnel as the tide was coming in. However, the trapdoor was locked by itself. The children had to swim out.
After a while, the children swam out of the tunnel and the parrots were rescued. Josh recognized the parrots were endangered animals. Poachers hid and sold them to earn lots of money. Dink thought the suspect could be Walker Wallis.
At midnight, the children saw Rip disappeared down the steps into the tunnel. And then Josh slammed the trapdoor shut. The spring lock snap into place.
Rip was arrested and sent to a jail.
