Hurricane Katrina caused much more damage than the citizens in New Orleans expected. The author, Lauren Tarshis, put so much effort in the details of the book. She says it is sad that no one actually did something to prevent a hurricane. I felt sad too, thinking that countless families had been torn apart by this hurricane. Luckily, in the story it is a happy ending. The author knew after all this, the novel just couldn't be tragical.

Even in Jess's worst nightmares, she never thought that pretty Mount St. Helens would erupt. But one day it did, Jess and two twins called Sam and Eddie went to the mountain and got caught in the eruption. Eddie and Sam were badly hurt, so Jess started waved her arms like crazy and a helicopter saw her. They were all saved. Jess is a brave girl (Her real name is actually Jessie). I recommend this book.
