1) Learning how to read begins in your child's ears, not his eyes. 

2) Read lots of different books to your child to incease his vocabulary and concepts. 

3) Phonological awareness, phonics, sight words, and fluency are major skills of reading. 

4) Comprehension is the ultimate goal of reading. 

最 Children often ask for the same book to be read over and over.After the fifteenth time, you may be bored, but you are creating important language pathways in your child's brain.Repeated readings help build a sense of story, and predict what might happen next.Prediction is a major skill of comprehension. 

最 Language is made up of four categories: listening, talking, reading and writing.Listening has the largest vocabulary, and writing has the smallest.When the listening vocabulary increases, this expands the other three language vocabularies.
