If I were to summarize my thoughts of the book 《The Door in the Wall》in a typical-magazine's-review, I'd write "An intriguing story with an easy-to-follow plot, descriptive writing of the medieval lifestyle in England and stunning illustrations. "
But in truth, there's more to this children's book than one sentence. At first, to me, the book seemed to move on too fast from one scene to another. But I began to like this style of writing, because it has just the right amount of miniscule details so that it's neither overwhelming nor boring. As for the tale itself, which is about a soon-to-become-knight who has difficulty moving his legs and how he found other ways to save his kingdom, I found it joyful in a sense that it delivers hope. The best aspect about the book though, is its ability to link its title to its content in a meaningful way. That's why I'm glad I took this book out of the shelf and gave it a try, perhaps you should too.
