美文欣賞（一）：Gizmo

It happened in my host family. That was early in the morning, as soon as I came out from my bedroom, the cat called Gizmo was already at the doorway of my bedroom and greeted me. 

He was meowing to get my attention. I looked at Gizmo, He was also circling hungrily near where I stood and rubbing my legs using its body at the same time. 


Then, he ran quickly, and then stopped as if he was waiting for me. He turned his head towards me to see if I was following him to where the cat food bowls were. When we got there, I noticed that a bowl was empty, but another one was not. Gizmo didn’t seem to be interested in the bowl with cat food in it. Perhaps, he did not like the flavour of the food. He was hungry. He wanted to eat badly. But he pushed the box of cat food away with his head and indicated me where the box of his favourite food was. When I was holding the box of his favourite food in my hands, Gizmo scratched it, because he couldn’t wait to have it. 


I lowered the box and wanted to pour some of his favourite food into the bowl, but Gizmo was too anxious and he pushed the box swiftly with his head. Too bad, there was nothing coming out of the box. Gizmo looked at the bowl and noticed the bowl was still empty, he looked a little bit disappointed. I tried again, still nothing got into the bowl because Gizmo pushed the box quickly all the times. Then I just had to push Gizmo away until I had already poured the cat food into the bowl. Gizmo struggled hard when I was pushing him away. When I stopped pushing him, he rushed to get the food as soon as I let it go and began to eat it happily. When he was eating, there was a very loud chewing sound. It sounded very yummy. His body was laid on the floor and his head was shifting left and right above the cat food bowl that could allow him to eat more cat food much easier. He was immersed in the joy of eating his food. 


Eating is the most important thing in Gizmo’s daily life. Maybe he will miss me very much when I come back to Shanghai because he didn’t have to wait for a long time for his cat food when I was there. Now, he has to wait for Erica to give him his food patiently every morning. Gizmo is a little bit naughty and very funny. He made me laugh many times when I was in my host family. I like this lovely cat very much.
