Raz O： Pluto's New Friends

信息量不小，撇開和各種行星、矮行星命名相關(guān)的神話不談，以冥王星視角講了個科普好故事（combination fantasy and nonfiction elements）。借著冥王星的自述，重溫了希臘神話，再穿插些歌曲、圖片，算是近期讀得很認(rèn)真的一本raz了。

• asteroid/??st?r??d/ 小行星（n.）

a minor planet of the inner solar system（內(nèi)太陽系）， especially between Mars and Jupiter . Asteroids orbit the Sun, but they are usually too small to become round.

an  object  in  space  like a  bright         ball  with a long  tail , that moves around the  Sun

• 巖質(zhì)行星（rocky planet, or terrestrial planets）：位于小行星帶內(nèi)的4顆內(nèi)行星（inner planets）。比氣態(tài)巨行星小很多，衛(wèi)星的數(shù)量很少甚至沒有，也不具備光環(huán)。The four smaller inner system planets, Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars, are terrestrial planets, being primarily composed of rock and metal.
• 氣態(tài)巨行星（giant planets）：位于小行星帶外（outer planets）的4顆大型行星。都環(huán)繞著大量衛(wèi)星，都擁有由巖石或冰態(tài)顆粒組成的光環(huán)。The two largest planets, Jupiter and Saturn, are gas giants; the two outermost planets, Uranus and Neptune, are ice giants

3、太陽系兩大隕石帶

（1）小行星帶（Asteroid Belt）

太陽系內(nèi)介于火星和木星軌道之間的小行星密集區(qū)域。The asteroid belt is located roughly between the orbits of the planets Jupiter and Mars. It contains a great many solid, irregularly shaped bodies, of many sizes but much smaller than planets, called asteroids or minor planets. 

（2）柯伊伯帶（Kuiper Belt）

位于太陽系的海王星軌道外側(cè)，類似于小行星帶但范圍大得多，它比小行星帶寬20倍且重20至200倍。It is similar to the asteroid belt, but is far larger – 20 times as wide and 20–200 times as massive.
