繪本英譯習(xí)作(2) ：月亮的味道

《月亮的味道》作者是波蘭人，我所知的有英文版、中譯版和西譯版，猜想英文版大概是原版。

可是英文版太貴，沒(méi)舍得買，傳說(shuō)中和中文版內(nèi)容差別很大，英文版比較簡(jiǎn)單，網(wǎng)上說(shuō)行文大概是這樣的：

The turtle wants to taste the moon. 

He climbs up.
“Oh, I can’t touch the moon. Who can help me?”
“Elephant, where are you?”
“I’m coming, let me help you.”  

“Elephant, get on my back.”
“I can’t touch the moon. Who can help us?” 

“Giraffe, where are you?”
“I’m coming, let me help you.” 

“Giraffe, get on my back.”
“I can’t touch the moon. Who can help us?” 

...

可中文版明明有很多故事情節(jié)和描述性文字：

本著習(xí)作的目的，暫且不看原作，自己先試著翻譯一下吧。

譯：群群媽媽

月亮是什么味道呢？是甜的，還是咸的呢？真想嘗一小口??！

What does the moon taste like? 

Is it sweet?

Is it salty?

How I wish to have a bite of it!

夜里，動(dòng)物們望著月亮，總是這么想。

When the moon came up at night, the animals on the earth would look up at it and wondered what the moon would taste like.

可是呢，不管怎么伸長(zhǎng)了脖子，伸長(zhǎng)了手，伸長(zhǎng)了腿，也夠不著月亮。

But no matter how hard their necks, hands and legs stretched, the moon was out of reach.

有一天，一只小海龜下定了決心，它要一步一步爬到最高的山上，去摸一摸月亮。

Among the animals was a little sea turtle. He planned to climb up the highest moutain all the way up to the top and reach the moon there. He made up his mind and set off. 

爬到山頂，月亮近多了?？墒牵『｝斶€是夠不著。

When he made it to the top, the moon did look nearer. But still, he could not reach it.

小海龜叫來(lái)了大象。

The little turtle then called Elephant for help.

大象，你到我背上來(lái)，說(shuō)不定我們夠得著呢！

"Dear elephant. Could you get on my back so you might reach the moon?" asked the little turtle.

月亮想：這是在和我玩游戲吧？

"It must be a game." The moon thought.

大象的鼻子往上一伸，月亮輕輕地往上一跳。

Just as the elephant lifted up his trunk, the moon briskly moved up.

大象還是夠不著，它叫來(lái)了長(zhǎng)頸鹿。

The elephant couldn't reach the moon either, so he called Giraffe for help.

長(zhǎng)頸鹿，你跳到我的背上，說(shuō)不定我們一下就夠到了。

"Dear Giraffe. Please get on my back so we might reach the moon." said Elephant.

月亮看到了長(zhǎng)頸鹿，又輕輕往上一跳。

The moon quickly moved up before Giraffe did.

長(zhǎng)頸鹿使勁兒伸長(zhǎng)了脖子，可還是夠不著。

Giraffe tried hard to stretch his neck, but he couldn't reach the moon either.

長(zhǎng)頸鹿叫來(lái)了斑馬。

Giraffe called Zabra for help.

（以下省略斑馬、狐貍、猴子的相似情節(jié)。）

“老鼠，快爬到我的背上來(lái)，我們就能爬上月亮了！”

"Dear Mouse. Please get on my back so we might reach the moon." said Monkey.

月亮看著老鼠，心想：“這么個(gè)小不點(diǎn)兒，肯定捉不到我的?！痹铝烈呀?jīng)有點(diǎn)累了，這回它沒(méi)動(dòng)。

"The mouse is too small to catch me". thought the moon. "And I am too tired to move". The moon did not move at all.

老鼠先爬到海龜?shù)纳砩希缓笈赖酱笙蟮纳砩?，長(zhǎng)頸鹿的身上，斑馬的身上，獅子的身上，狐貍的身上，猴子的身上，然后……

The mouse got on the turtle, crawling up to the elephant, then the giraffe, the zebra . Further up, he made his way along the lion, the fox, the monkey...

“咔嚓！” 他咬下一片月亮。

Munch! The mouse took a bite of the moon.

月亮的味道真好，值！

"The moon tastes delicious! It is all worth it!" thought the mouse.

然后，老鼠又給猴子、狐貍、獅子、斑馬、長(zhǎng)頸鹿、大象和海龜，都分了一口月亮。

"Have a taste of the moon!" He did not forget to give everyone a bite of the moon, so he gave to the monkey, the fox, the lion, the zebra, the giraffe, and elephant and the turtle. 

Everyone had a taste of the moon.

這天夜里，大家擠在一起睡著了。

Everyone was full. They cuddled up and fell asleep.

一條小魚看著這一切，怎么也鬧不明白：“它們?yōu)槭裁匆敲促M(fèi)力，到高高的天上去摘月亮？這不是還有一個(gè)嘛，喏，就在水里，在我旁邊呀?！?/p>

A fish swam by and was baffled. "Why did they have to make such an effort for the moon in the sky? There's more than one moon, isn't it? There it is, in the water, right by my side. " wondered the fish.
