繪本英譯習作(3) ：彩虹色的花

《彩虹色的花》原文作者是細野綾子，圖畫作者是麥克 格雷涅茨（《月亮的味道》作者）。我在網(wǎng)上找了許久，連英譯版的封面都沒找到，遺憾。不少網(wǎng)友也翻譯過。我敢發(fā)誓，如有雷同，純屬巧合。

“好，今天我一定要把積雪全部融化掉”。太陽升起來，把原野照得亮亮的。

The sun came up, shining upon the land. “I shall melt all the snow today”, said the sun.

他吃了一驚：昨天還是一片積雪的原野上竟然開著一朵花！

Soon he was amazed. A flower was standing on the ground where the snow had been only yesterday.

“早安，你是誰？”太陽問。

“Good morning, but who are you?” asked the sun.

花兒回答說：“早安，我是彩虹色的花。冬天的時候，我一直呆在泥土里，可我再也等不及了?，F(xiàn)在終于見到你了，我多高興呀！我想跟每個人分享我的快樂。"

“Good morning, sun. I am Rainbow Flower. I had stayed beneath the ground all winter. Now I can’t wait to come outside. It’s such a delight to see you. I want to share my happiness with everyone.” The rainbow flower said happily.

過了幾天，好像有誰從花兒的身邊走過。

A few days later, an ant passed by.

“早安，我是彩虹色的花。你是誰呀？”

“Good morning. I am Rainbow Flower. Who are you?” she asked.

“我是螞蟻。我現(xiàn)在要去奶奶家?？墒?，雪融化了，原野中間有一個很大的水洼。我怎么才能過去呢？”

“Hello, Rainbow Flower. I am ant. I am on my way to visit grandma. But the snow melt away and left a big puddle in my way. I don’t know how to cross it.” The ant looked worried.

“是這樣啊，那你爬上來，摘一片花瓣試試看，說不定能用得上呢?！?/p>

“Oh, I see. Maybe I can help. Why don't you get on me and pick a petal off me? It might help out.” Rainbow Flower suggested nicely.

又過了幾天，一個舒服的晴天，好像又有誰走過。

A few days passed. A lizard walked by on a lovely sunny day.

“你好，我是彩虹色的花。你是誰呀？你為什么那么難過呢？”

“Hello. I am Rainbow Flower, who are you? Why do you look so sad?” asked the flower.

“我是蜥蜴，今天我要去參加宴會，可是沒有適合的衣服。我怎么辦呢？”

“Hello, Rainbow Flower. I am lizard. I am on my way to a party. But I don’t have any party outfit. I don’t know what to do.” The lizard looked worried.

“哦，也許我的哪一片花瓣會與你的綠色相配。你看呢？”

“Oh I see. Maybe one of my petals could be a good match with your skin color. Does that help?” She asked with concern.

這些日子，每天的陽光都很強烈。好像有誰從花兒的身邊走過。

The sun shone brightly everyday. Another creature passed by.

“你好。我是彩虹色的花。你是誰呀？怎么呼哧呼哧地喘著氣呢？”

“Hello. I am Rainbow Flower. Who are you? Why are you so sweaty and look so weary?（本句非原創(chuàng)，因為這句翻譯實在太好了，所以原封不動引用）

“哦你好。我是老鼠，最近天氣又悶又熱弄得我暈乎乎的。要有把扇子就好了。

“Hello, Rainbow Flower. I am mouse. It’s been so hot and stuffy. It’d be great if I have a fan to get through the heat.” said the mouse.

“噢，那用我的花瓣不正好嗎？”

“Oh I see. Won’t my petal just be what you need!” said the rainbow flower happily.

白天越來越短了，已經(jīng)是秋天了。好像有誰從天空飛過。

Days got shorter. It was autumn. One day, a bird flew across the sky.

“你好。你是誰呀？你還會飛呀？”彩虹色的花說。

“Hello. I am Rainbow Flower. Who are you? What a surprise that you can fly!” asked Rainbow Flower curiously.

“你好，我是小鳥。因為我有翅膀，所以會飛呀。今天是我女兒的生日，我出來為她選一件禮物?？墒?，飛來飛去，什么也沒找到，正著急呢。

“Hello, Rainbow Flower. I am Bird. My wings help me fly. Today is my daughter’s birthday. I am looking for a birthday present for her. I have been looking all around, but I have found nothing good enough." said the bird.

“那你看看我這兒有沒有她喜歡的彩色的花瓣呢?”

“Oh, I see. What about a petal from me. Wouldn't it be a delight to her?" said the rainbow flower.

Days moved on.

有一天，烏云遮住了天空。

It was a cloudy chilly day. Dark clouds shut out the sunshine.

好像有誰跟花兒打招呼：“你好，彩虹色的花。最近冷多了，眼看就要下雨了，怎么辦？”

“Hello, Rainbow Flower. The days are getting chilly. The rain is on the way. What shall we do?” It was a hedgehog.

彩虹色的花用虛弱的聲音回答說：“我能幫你什么忙嗎？”

The rainbow flower looked down and replied in a weak voice: “Can I do anything for you, hedgehog?”

天空越來越暗，傳來陣陣雷聲。大風把最后一片花瓣也刮走了。

The sky got darker, the thunder got nearer. Wind roared and blew away the last petal of Rainbow Flower.

太陽隱去了自己的光芒，彩虹色的花也折斷了，但她仍然靜靜地站在那兒。雪花仿佛要擁抱彩虹色的花，輕輕地，輕輕地飄落下來。

The sun receded. The dark took over the sky. The rainbow flower was still there, but her body was broken and her petals were gone. The snow fell on her. Was that a gentle hug from winter?

很快，大雪覆蓋了所有的東西，一片白茫茫的。

Soon, the land was covered by snow. Everywhere, for a long time.

誰會想到，在這里曾經(jīng)開過一朵彩虹色的花呢！

Who would know that a rainbow flower had once blossomed here!

就在這個時候，從雪中升起一道耀眼的彩虹色的光芒，把天空照亮了。

All at once, a rainbow rose above the land and lit the sky lovely and bright.

螞蟻，蜥蜴，老鼠，小鳥，刺猬都從遠處跑了過來。

The ant, the lizard, the bird and the hedgehog all came over to see the rainbow.

他們看著光芒，心里漸漸溫暖起來。大家都想起來了彩虹色的花曾經(jīng)給過自己的幫助。

They watched the rainbow as if seeing Rainbow Flower again. They felt so warm inside as they recalled what Rainbow Flower once did for them.

漫長的冬天終于過去了，春天又來了。

Then, winter was over. Spring followed through.

一天早晨，太陽探出頭來，他吃了一驚，很高興地說：“早安，彩虹色的花。又見到你了！”

The sun came up, shining upon the land. “Good morning, Rainbow Flower. What a lovely surprise to see you again!” said the sun.
