L3- 13 K ipper  the clown

H i , 小朋友，今天童老師給你講的故事叫 Kipper the clown . ——小丑 Kipp er 。 W hat  is Kipper dressed up as? He is dressed up as a clown. What is he doing? He is juggling.  他在玩雜耍。 D o you  think Kipper like be a clown?  你覺得 Kipper 喜歡做小丑嗎？ Let’s read the story together.

Page1 
 The children put on a circus. ”circus” 就是 馬戲、雜耍的意思。 ”put on”  就是制作、提供的意思。他們呀，自編、自導(dǎo)、自演，準(zhǔn)備了一臺馬戲表演。他們從家里搬來椅子，用倒扣的花盆圍出舞臺的氛圍。一切準(zhǔn)備就緒，就差觀眾了。 W ho ’s coming to see the circus? Dad was already there. What was Wilma doing? She was selling tickets. A man bought a ticket. Wilma 成功的向鄰居叔叔賣出了一張票。

 T he show  was on!  演出開始了。觀眾席稀稀拉拉的還沒坐滿呢，怎么就開始了。等不及了，先演了再說吧。 W ilf 戴著大禮帽當(dāng)司儀。 ” Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Kipper the clown.” Kipper was a clown.  第一個(gè)節(jié)目很重要的。 K ipper 鉚足了勁要好好表現(xiàn)，討他個(gè)滿堂彩。 K ipper started juggling . F loppy 看到 Kipper 手上五顏六色的小球，一個(gè)都不拋給他玩，受不了了。 F loppy  pulled his leg. “come, come play with me.” Kipper  被 Floppy 這么一拽，失去了平衡，球掉了，帽子也飛了。 D ad  laughed, what a funny clown!

 W ho ’s next? Chip was a strong-man. ”strong” 就是強(qiáng)壯的意思。 ” strong-man”  就是大力士。 W a s that really chip? No, not Chip. His name was Chippo.  他什么時(shí)候嘴巴上長出了小胡子，胳膊上長出了這么大的肌肉啊。胡子是貼上去的，肌肉呢，是他塞在袖子里的襪子。你看他單手就舉起了一個(gè) 75 公斤的大鐵陀。 75 公斤呢，我猜，比小朋友你還重呢。 H ow did he do that? H e  was strong.  這時(shí)候只聽到“嘣”的一聲。 F loppy 又來搶戲了，他一口把杠鈴咬破了。原來這杠鈴是氣球做的呀。估計(jì) 75 公斤的大鐵陀也是紙糊的。 H e  made everyone laugh. Did Kipper laugh? No. he looked sad. Why ？ 可能他還在為剛才沒能好好表現(xiàn)難過呢。 I am the clown. I should make everyone laugh.

 Wilma and Biff did gymnastics. “gymnastics” 就是體操，她們倆是雙人體操組合—— The Jumping  Beans ，跳跳豆。 W ilma ’s dad gave the girls two thumbs up.  兩個(gè)大拇指都豎起來了 , well done!  B ut  kipper was not happy.

 T hen , there was a break, everyone had a drink.  看著精彩的表演，吃著孩子們端上來的點(diǎn)心，媽媽們別提多自豪了。 ”  W hat  a good ci rcus!”  鄰居叔叔同意嗎？ ” Watch out!”  Biff 表演體操的時(shí)候平衡能力多強(qiáng)啊，怎么拿起果汁來就端不穩(wěn)了呢。 E veryone had  something to eat, but not Kipper. Kipper 干脆把嘴捂起來， ”I don’t want drink, I don’t want eat.”  他估計(jì)還在為自己沒能好好表現(xiàn)生氣呢。

 W elcome back to  the circus. 下半場的演出開始了。 W ho  was up?  輪到誰了？ Wilf  was a stuntman. （ 聯(lián)想 L 3 Nobody wanted to play 一文， Wilf 騎著自行車，也曾想象過自己是 stuntman 。 ） ”stuntman” 就是特技演員，他要表演飛車過熊。 T he  children left the best to the last.  原來孩子們把最精彩的節(jié)目放在了最后。 E veryone  was excited, come on, Wilf! But Kipper was not excited. Kipper was fed up. Why was he fed up?  是不是因?yàn)?Wilf 沒有經(jīng)過他的同意就用他的 T eddy  當(dāng)?shù)谰甙　?/p>

 H e  wanted to be a stuntman.  他也想當(dāng)特技演員。他想向大家證明，他才不是只會出洋相搞笑的小丑呢。 ” L ook at me,” he said. 大家還在為 Wilf 的精彩表現(xiàn)喝彩呢，沒想到 kipper 騎著自行車就沖過來了。 Look at kipper ’s bike, it has training wheels. Kipper 的那輛兒童單車上，還帶著輔助輪子呢。 H e rolled fast and fast.  速度快的連他的帽子都掉了。躺在地上的小熊看起來有點(diǎn)緊張。

 E veryone  looked at Kipper.  O h , no.  kipper 騎歪了，沒能上跑道，騎到旁邊的磚頭上。 K ipper 一個(gè)后空翻，從單車上飛起來。 Wilma 的媽媽嚇得把眼睛都遮起來了。

 幸虧 Wilma 和 Bi ff  練體操的床墊還在。 K ipper 一屁股坐在了床墊上。滴溜溜。 A  litt l e  red ball fell off. It  was  K ipper ’s noes. Was  he hurt? Thank goodness! Kipper was not hurt.  但是他坐在床墊上，看著大家擔(dān)心的目光，心想， ”it looks easy to be a  stuntman, but it not. ”  這下好了，光想出風(fēng)頭，沒想到出了個(gè)更大的洋相。 W hat  did Kipper say? “I am a clown, after all,” said Kipper. “after all”  就是畢竟、終究、歸根到底的意思，他是說，“我畢竟是個(gè)小丑，本來就是負(fù)責(zé)搞笑的嘛?！?/p>
