Up作為proposition介詞有5個最常用的用法，common meaning

(1) Verb+up:

look up/look down

(2) Something is increased:

Our sales went up.如果你想表示上漲的飛快，你還可以把動詞替換掉,jumped up/rocketed up/ leapt up

Turn up the volume/turn up the heat

(3) Completely finish:

I cleaned.到底打掃到什么程度，是一點點還是都掃干凈了？

I cleaned up.強調(diào)了打掃的程度

I ate the pizza.是只吃了一點么？

I ate pizza all up.我全吃完了

I used up the milk.

但是你不要說I watched up the Peppa pig.通常watch不會這樣講

(4)  To approach someone/something:

This guy came up to me and asked for a fight.

(5) Show up/ turn up:

表示something/somebody arrive in a strange or unexpected way.

He showed up 5 hours earlier.

Come up with something/ Make something creative. I come up with an idea.

(5) Break up/split up: relation ship breaks

(6) Look something up: find information

(7) Throw up: vomit

(8) Blow up: something explodes
