來一起讀本書吧，《The Cold Day》，故事開始~

Before reading this book, let's have a discussion first. Have you ever ever been to a beach? What was the weather like? Was it warm and sunny, or chilly and windy? Do you like being on a beach when it is cold? 在讀這本書之前呢，我們先說點(diǎn)別的吧。你有去過海灘么？去的時(shí)候天氣如何呢？是暖和晴朗的呢？還是寒冷有風(fēng)的呢？你喜歡在天冷的時(shí)候去海灘么？

Here is a summary of this story. It is a cold day and Kipper really does not want to play on the beach–he wants to go to the town and buy a fishing net instead. Everyone is keen to go and splash in the waves, but Dad has to carry Kipper in to join in the fun. When he gets out of the freezing water, Kipper is shivering. He sits wrapped in a towel while the others run up and down to keep warm. But when the ice-cream van appears, Kipper forgets all about being cold! 這個(gè)故事的簡(jiǎn)短介紹如下：這天很冷，Kipper是真心不愿意在沙灘上玩，相反，他想要去鎮(zhèn)上買個(gè)捕魚網(wǎng)。每個(gè)人都渴望在海浪中嬉戲，但是爸爸不得不扛著Kipper加入大家一起玩。從冰冷的水里出來之后，Kipper都凍得發(fā)抖了。他裹著浴巾坐著，而其他人呢則選擇用跳上跳下的方式讓自己暖和起來。然而，當(dāng)冰淇淋車出現(xiàn)的時(shí)候，Kipper竟然不覺得冷了！

Do you think this will be a funny story? 你覺得這個(gè)故事會(huì)很有趣不？

I think this will be a dead-ass funny story. 我覺得這個(gè)故事會(huì)超級(jí)搞笑。

OK, now let's read the title and take a look at the front cover. This book is called The Cold Day, and on the front cover, what is Kipper doing? 好啦，我們一起來讀一讀這個(gè)故事的標(biāo)題，看看封面吧。這本書的標(biāo)題是《寒冷的一天》。封面上，Kipper在干嘛呢？

Shivering. Wow, he must be feeling very cold. 在打顫呢。他肯定覺得冷颼颼的。

Yep, and I wonder what he will do to get warm. 是咧，那么他會(huì)做些什么讓自己暖和起來呢？

Let's read the story together. 我們一起來讀一讀這個(gè)故事吧。

第1頁(yè)

The children were in the sea. 孩子們?nèi)ズ＠锿胬病?/p>

Let's look at the picture on the first page. We can see that Kipper's family are playing in the sea and there is a parked double-decker bus in the distance. 我們來看第一頁(yè)的圖片?？梢钥吹?，Kipper一家人正在海里玩，遠(yuǎn)處停著一輛雙層巴士。

Other than Kipper's family and their friends, on the beach we can also see two grown-ups, a boy and a dog. 除了Kipper一家和他們的朋友外，我們還可以看到兩個(gè)大人，一個(gè)小男孩還有一條狗狗在沙灘上。

What clothes are they wearing? 他們都穿著什么樣的衣服呢？

They are wearing warm coats, boots as well as warm hats. 他們都穿著厚厚的外套，靴子，還戴著棉帽子。
 

So what season do you think is it now? 那么你覺得現(xiàn)在是什么季節(jié)呢？

Late fall, or winter, maybe. 可能是深秋，或者冬天。
 

Wow, playing in the sea on a cold day really takes some guts, right? 哇，這么冷的天，下水玩，可真的需要勇氣哦，對(duì)吧？

Can you see Kipper? Where is He? Is he in the water? 你看到Kipper了么？他在哪里呢？

No, not in the water, but on Daddy's shoulders. 沒在水里，爸爸馱著他呢。
 

Oh, look, with his arms cross, he is shivering. 你看他，雙手抱臂，還在發(fā)抖呢。

So we can say that unlike other kids, Kipper is not enjoying playing in the water. 所以呢，其他小朋友都玩的很開心，Kipper一點(diǎn)都不想在水里呆著。

第2-3頁(yè)

They played in the waves. Dad made them laugh. 他們?cè)诤＠酥型嫠！０职侄旱么蠹夜笮Α?/p>

Look at Page 2, Chip and Wilma are playing with Mum. What are they playing? 第2頁(yè)上，Chip和Wilma跟著媽媽玩。他們?cè)谕媸裁茨兀?/p>

They are jumping. 他們跳起來啦。

Right, they jump high as the white water meets the shore. 對(duì)啦，浪花來了，他們就跳起來。

We can also play this game in our room. Daddy, you go fetch a sheet and use it as the waves. 我們也來在屋里玩海浪的游戲吧。爸爸，你去拿一張床單來，當(dāng)作浪花。

Mommy will hold your hand and let's jump when the waves come. 媽媽來拉著你的手，浪來的時(shí)候，我們就一起跳起來，好嗎？

Here come the waves, jump! 浪來啦，跳！

This is so much fun, and I really like it. 太好玩啦，我好喜歡這個(gè)游戲呀。

Oh, I'm feeling a little bit tired now, how about we take a little rest to catch our breath, and see what Biff and Wilf are doing? 哎呀，媽媽有點(diǎn)累啦，我們休息一下喘口氣，看看Biff和Wilf在玩什么好不好？

Look at Page 3. Dad looks so funny. What's that on his head and what's in his hand? 第三頁(yè)，爸爸打扮的好搞笑啊。他的頭上是什么呀？手里拿的又是什么呀？

You'll know who Dad is dressing up as after you see this picture. 看完下面這張圖片，你就會(huì)知道爸爸扮成誰了。

This is Greek God of the Sea-Poseidon. 這位呢，是希臘神話里面的海神-波塞冬。

Look at him, he has long curly hair and a bushy beard, and he is holding a trident in his hand. 你看他，長(zhǎng)著長(zhǎng)長(zhǎng)的卷發(fā)，濃密的胡子，手里還拿著一把三叉戟。

Oh, turn out Dad is pretending to be Poseidon. 噢，原來爸爸假裝成海神啦。

Hahaha, so funny that Biff and Wilf laugh out loud. 哈哈哈，太搞笑了，把Biff和Wilf都逗樂了。

So Why do you think Dad put the seaweed on his head? 那么你覺得為什么爸爸要把海草放頭上呢？

To encourage Kipper to join in the fun. 為了鼓勵(lì)Kipper跟大家一塊玩。

第4-5頁(yè)

Everyone was cold. Kipper was very cold. 每個(gè)人都覺得冷。Kipper覺得非常冷。

After playing in the sea and getting out of the water, how do they feel? 還海里玩完，從水里出來之后，大家感覺怎么樣呀？

They feel cold. 冷。

Great, look Biff and Chip snuggle up together in one towel, and Wilf wrap himself up in a blue and white towel. 太對(duì)啦。你看，Biff和Chip依偎在毯子里，Wilf也裹了一條藍(lán)白相間的毯子。

Can you see where is Wilma? 咦？Wilma去哪里了呢？

She puts a white and red checked towel over her head. 她的頭上蒙著一條白紅格子毯呢。

Wooo, is she pretending to be a ghost? 嗚~~她假裝自己是個(gè)幽靈么？

I am also a ghost, wooo~ 我也是個(gè)幽靈，嗚~~

Are you scared? 你怕么？

No, I am not scared, 'coz I'm very brave. 不，我不怕，我很勇敢的。

Go away scary ghost, go away. 

Go away scary ghost, go away. （來，唱一段。哈哈哈）

We know that Kipper is the youngest kid and he is feeling very cold, so mum helps him to wrap up warm. 我們知道Kipper是最小的孩子，而且這會(huì)兒覺得非常冷，所以媽媽幫忙把他裹暖和。

Look at him, shivering and pale all over. 你看他， 雖然裹著毯子，還是發(fā)抖，而且渾身都凍青了。

第6-7頁(yè)

Everyone wanted to jog. Kipper sat on the rug. 大家都想跑一跑。Kipper坐在墊子上。

Are they still wrapped up in towels? 他們還裹著毯子嗎？
 

Not any more, they change into sports clothes and put on their shoes. 沒裹毯子了，他們換了運(yùn)動(dòng)裝，穿上了鞋子。

And why? 那是為什么呢？

Because everyone wants to jog. 因?yàn)榇蠹叶枷肱芤慌堋?/p>

And why? 跑一跑做什么呢？

To get warm. 當(dāng)然是要暖和點(diǎn)啦。

Would you like to jog with mommy in the room? Come on. 你想跟媽媽在屋里跑一跑嗎？跑起來。

Does Kipper jog with them? Kipper跟大家一起跑了么？

No, he is sitting on the rug wrapped up in two towels. 沒有，他裹著兩條毯子在墊子上坐著呢。

第8-9頁(yè)

"Come on, Kipper," said Mum. "I'm too cold," said Kipper. 媽媽對(duì)Kipper說："來跑一跑吧， Kipper。" Kipper回答說："我太冷了。"

Wow, look now Kipper is wrapping up in three towels, and he's still so cold that his body's trembling and his teeth chattering. 哇，你看Kipper, 他給自己裹了三條毯子，還是凍得渾身發(fā)抖，牙齒打顫。

And everyone else starts jogging, so Mum comes to encourage him to jog with others. 大家都已經(jīng)開始跑了，所以媽媽來鼓勵(lì)他跟大家一起跑一跑。

Does he agree to jog with them? 他要跟大家一起跑么？

No, he refuses since he is too cold. 沒有，他覺得太冷了，就拒絕了。

第10-11頁(yè)

"Come on, Kipper," said Dad. "I'm too cold," said Kipper. 爸爸說：“來玩吧，Kipper”，他回答說：“我太冷了”。

After jogging, they are now playing criket. 跑完了之后，大家開始打板球。

Who is the batsman? And who is the fielder? 誰是擊球手？誰是外野手？

Wilf is the batsman and Dad is the fielder. Wilf是擊球手，爸爸是外野手。

Nice job. Does the fielder catch the ball? 漂亮，那外野手接住球了么？

No, he just misses. 并沒有，完美錯(cuò)過了。

Oh, I wonder where Mum is. 哦，媽媽去哪里了呢？

She is the bowler who throws the ball, and she is standing far away now, so she is left out of the picture. 她是投球手，這會(huì)兒正在遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)的地方，所以都沒畫上去。

Come on, Kipper. Dad tries to encourage him to join in the fun again, but does Kipper say "Yes"? 爸爸又邀請(qǐng)Kipper參與進(jìn)來打棒球，他同意了嗎？

No, he says "No" again. 還是沒有同意。

Does Kipper know that sitting there only makes him colder and colder? Kipper知不知道越是不活動(dòng)會(huì)越冷??？

Maybe you can say "Come on buddy, stand up and move a little bit." 或許你可以告訴他：來吧兄弟，站起來活動(dòng)一下。

第12-13頁(yè)

"Come and help," said everyone. "I'm too cold," said Kipper. 大家說：過來幫忙呀。Kipper說：我太冷了呀。

What is everybody doing now? 這會(huì)兒大家在做什么呢？

The other kids are digging a hole. 在挖洞呢。

Right, look how big the hole is, three kids can even stand in it. 是的呢，你看，這個(gè)洞好大呀，里面都能站三個(gè)人了。

Oh, look Dad is drying his clothes with his hands. What happened just now? Why are Dad's clothes wet? 咦，爸爸在徒手?jǐn)Q干衣服呢？發(fā)生什么事啦？他的衣服怎么會(huì)濕了呢？

Check the previous page, Dad tried to catch the baseball, but he missed, and he lost his balance and fell in the water. 返回看下前面一頁(yè)。爸爸試圖去接棒球，但是沒接住，沒站穩(wěn)，摔倒在水里啦。

Hahaha, so funny Dad. 哈哈哈，爸爸總是這么搞笑。

Does Kipper say "Yes" to the hole digging activity? 這次Kipper同意跟大家一起挖沙洞了么？

No, he is still feeling too cold. 沒有，他太冷了。

Oh my God, just look at Kipper, I think he is now freezingly cold. His face looks blue and his whole body is shivering. 天哪，你看看Kipper, 我覺得這會(huì)兒他已經(jīng)凍壞了。臉都凍得發(fā)紫了，渾身顫抖。

I wish I could go in there to give him a hug. 真想過去抱抱他。

第14-15頁(yè)

"Ice cream!" said Kipper. He ran to the van. Kipper說：冰淇淋。他跑向冰淇淋車。

What gets Kipper to stand up and run? 是什么讓Kipper起來跑動(dòng)的？

An ice cream van. 冰淇淋車。

Wow, I'm just shocked. Isn't Kipper cold any more? Isn't he just shivering and not wantting to stand up and move? 哇，簡(jiǎn)直震驚了。Kipper不冷了么？他剛剛不是一直凍得發(fā)抖，半點(diǎn)都不想動(dòng)嗎？

What is he thinking? Could this ice cream van be selling hot ice creams? 他在想啥呢？難道這輛冰淇淋車賣的是熱乎乎的冰淇淋？

第16頁(yè)

Everyone looked at Kipper. "I'm not that cold," he said. 大家都看著Kipper。他說：我并沒有那么冷嘛。

Why do you think everyone is looking at Kipper? What are they thinking? 你覺得為啥大家都看著Kipper呢？他們?cè)谙胧裁矗?/p>

They may be feeling curious as us, also wondering how just the ice cream gets Kipper to stand up. 他們可能跟我們一樣好奇，在想這冰淇淋到底是如何讓Kipper站起來的。

What a boy! 真是個(gè)孩子?。?/p>

Let's look at the pictures of ice creams on the van. 我們來看看冰淇淋車都賣哪些種類的冰淇淋吧。

There are arctic rocket, polar cap, perma frost, ice burger, subzero, snow cone and icicle. 有北極火箭，極地冰淇淋，永凍冰淇淋，冰淇淋堡，零度冰淇淋，甜筒還有冰柱。

Can you tell what type Kipper gets? 你能說說Kipper買的是哪種嗎？

Arctic rocket, which looks just like a rocket. 北極火箭冰淇淋，確實(shí)跟火箭好像啊。
 

The end. Now would you like to make an ice lolly? 讀完啦。你想不想做個(gè)冰淇淋呀？

We'll make a very easy one. We're gonna need some fruit juice, chopped-up pieces of fruit and an ice lolly mould. 我們來做一個(gè)簡(jiǎn)單的。需要一些果汁，切碎的水果和冰棍模具。

Put the chopped-up pieces of fruit in the mould, squeeze in some juice, and then put it in the freezer for 4 hours. Bingo, here is your ice lolly. Yummy. 先把水果粒放進(jìn)模具，擠一些果汁進(jìn)去，然后放進(jìn)冰箱冷凍4個(gè)小時(shí)。瞧，冰淇淋做好啦。美味哦~
