Hello everyone, this is Kevin's Mom, today we'll continue to read Oxford Reading Tree Stage 3 More stories Pack A, and today's story is called The Jumble Sale. 大家好，我是康媽。今天我們將繼續(xù)親子共讀牛津樹第三階的故事部分，今天的故事名字叫《The Jumble Sale》(慈善義賣)。

Kids, what happened to your own old toys and clothes? Do you know what is a jumble sale? What might you buy there? 小朋友們，你們自己的舊玩具和舊衣服都是怎么處理的呢？你知道什么是慈善義賣嗎？你會(huì)在義賣活動(dòng)上買什么呢？

In today's story, Mum takes some of the kids' old toys to the jumble sale, how will the kids feel and what are gonna do? Let's read the story to find it out. 在今天的故事里面呢，媽媽把孩子們的一些舊玩具拿去慈善義賣了，孩子們會(huì)怎么想呢？他們會(huì)怎么做呢？我們來讀一讀這個(gè)故事，找找答案吧~

MM: On the front cover, we can see Chip, Kipper and Biff, what do you think they are doing? 在封面上，我們可以看到Chip，Kipper還有Biff，你覺得他們在做什么呢？

BB: They are looking at some toys and books, they might be thinking of buying them. 他們在看著一些玩具和書籍，可能在考慮買下來吧。

MM: Other than the three kids, we can also see some other people who are checking out something they like as well as some stuff on the table beside them. 除了三個(gè)孩子之外呢，我們還可以看到一些其他人也在看自己喜歡的東西，旁邊的桌子上還放了一些其他的東西。

MM: Let's read the title: The Jumble Sale. 慈善義賣。

MM: Have you ever been to a jumble sale where you take your old toys for sale and also buy something you want? 那么你有沒有去過一個(gè)慈善義賣呢？你可以把自己的舊玩具拿去賣，還可以買些自己想要的東西。

MM: Mum and Dad were spring-cleaning. 媽媽和爸爸在進(jìn)行大掃除。

MM: When you spring-clean a house, you thoroughly clean everything in it. And it often occurs at the end of the year, which may be in spring or winter. Here we can see that Mum and Dad and cleaning the house thoroughly. Spring-clean就是大掃除，徹底打掃每個(gè)房間。大掃除通常在年末進(jìn)行，可能是冬天，也可能是春天。這里呢，我們可以看到媽媽和爸爸正在進(jìn)行大掃除呢。

MM: Dad is up in the attic taking a box out and giving it to Mum who is wearing an apron. The box is full of old toys which are covered with dust. OK, here, how can you tell the toys are old? 爸爸正在閣樓上把一個(gè)盒子遞給媽媽，媽媽還穿著圍裙呢。這個(gè)盒子里裝著一些舊玩具，上面布滿了灰塵。那么，在這里，你是怎么判斷這些文具是舊玩具呢？

BB: Look, the teddy bear is missing one eye, and on the other hand, if the toys were new, how could they be covered with dust? 你看，那個(gè)泰迪熊的一只眼睛都丟了。再者說了，如果這些玩具是新的，怎么會(huì)滿是灰塵呢？

MM: Great opinion, and I'm with you. 說的好，我跟你意見一致。

MM: Now I wonder what they are gonna do with these old toys, will they get rid of them? If so, how will the kids think about this? 我在想，他們會(huì)怎么處理這些舊玩具呢？會(huì)丟掉嗎？如果丟掉的話，孩子們會(huì)怎么想呢？

MM: Mum looked in a drawer. Dad threw things out. 媽媽檢查抽屜。爸爸把一些東西扔出來。

MM: These two pages show us how Mum and Dad are spring-cleaning. They divide the duties and work together. Mum is responsible for checking out the old stuff and Dad is responsible for taking the old stuff out. 這兩頁呢向我們展示了媽媽和爸爸是如何進(jìn)行大掃除的。他們分工合作。媽媽負(fù)責(zé)把舊的東西找出來，爸爸呢，則負(fù)責(zé)把它們搬出來。

MM: What is Mum looking at? 媽媽正在看什么呢？

BB: A top. Kipper's top, I think, he always loves red-white striped shirts. 一件上衣，應(yīng)該是Kipper的上衣，紅白條紋上衣是他最喜歡的呢。

MM: Oh yes, red-white-striped shirts are his favorite, and he might not want Mum to give this away. 是呢，紅白條紋T是他的最愛啊，他可能并不想要媽媽把它丟掉。

MM: What else can you see on the floor that is meant to give away? 地上還有哪些東西是要扔掉的呢？

BB: A lamp, a green suitcase, a CD, a small decorative angel, a green broken bag, a teddy bear, and two boxes of stuff. 有個(gè)臺(tái)燈，一個(gè)綠色箱子，一張CD，一個(gè)小型天使擺件，一個(gè)綠色的破袋子，泰迪熊，還有兩大箱東西。

MM: WOW, Mum and Dad are really throwing away things that are useless to them. 哇，爸爸媽媽真的是在斷舍離啊。

BB: Yes, less is more. 是啊，少即多嘛。

MM: The children looked at the junk. They played with the old toys. 孩子們看著這些不要的東西。他們玩弄著舊玩具。

MM: Here we can see that the kids are playing with the old stuff that is thrown out by Mum and Dad, junk is something that you don't want or need and that you want to get rid of. 在這里我們可以看到孩子們正在玩爸爸媽媽收拾出來的東西。Junk這個(gè)詞呢說的就是那些你不想要或者不需要，想要丟掉的東西。

MM: Now let's look at the picture, we may see what the children like. What's Biff looking at? What about Chip and Kipper? 現(xiàn)在我們看看這個(gè)圖片，可以看出來孩子們都喜歡啥哦。Biff在看什么呢？Chip和Kipper呢？

BB: Biff is looking at an old teddy bear which could have been her favorite toy when she was little. And Chip is taking out a broken puppet which has lost one arm and one leg. And Kipper is trying on a red-white-striped shirt that is now too small for him. Biff正在看一個(gè)舊的泰迪熊，這個(gè)泰迪熊可能是她小時(shí)候最喜歡的玩偶吧。Chip找到一個(gè)破的木偶，這個(gè)木偶少了一條胳膊一條腿。Chip找到了他最喜歡的紅白條紋T，只是現(xiàn)在對(duì)他來說已經(jīng)太小了。

MM: Mum put the old toys in the car. The children were sad. 媽媽把舊玩具放進(jìn)車?yán)铩：⒆觽兌己茈y過。

MM: Why does Mum put the old toys in the car? Where is she gonna take them to? 媽媽為什么要把舊玩具放進(jìn)車?yán)锬兀克郎?zhǔn)備把這些舊玩具帶到哪里呢？

BB: She did not throw the old toys directly into the trash, but puts them in the car, which means that she might take them to the jumble sale. I can tell from the title of this book. 媽媽并沒有把舊玩具直接扔進(jìn)垃圾桶，而是放進(jìn)車?yán)锪?，說明她有可能是要把舊玩具帶去慈善義賣。這本書的封面標(biāo)題已經(jīng)告訴我們啦。

MM: Yeah, I think you are right, but, why do the kids look so sad? Look, their mouths are down, not up. 我覺得你說的很對(duì)呢，可是，為什么孩子們看起來都不開心呢？你看，他們一個(gè)個(gè)地嘴角都向下了。

BB: Yeah, I would be sad too if my old toys were taken away. They are sad because they do not want to give away the old toys. 是啊，如果我的玩具被拿走的話，我也會(huì)傷心的。他們不開心就是因?yàn)樗麄兊耐婢咭凰妥吡恕?/p>

MM: They all went to the jumble sale. 他們都跟著一起去慈善義賣了。

MM: Here we can see that Biff and Kipper are helping Mum to take the boxes out of the trunk of the car into the jumble sale room. What excellent helpers they are! 這里我們可以看到Biff和Kipper正幫著媽媽把箱子從后備箱抱出來送進(jìn)義賣的屋子里。他們真是媽媽的好幫手啊！

Oh no, look at the box that Biff is taking out, it is upside down and all of the old stuff fall down to the ground. And she looks so unhappy. 哎呀，你看Biff正在拿的箱子，好像是拿顛倒了，里面的東西都掉地上去了。她看起來好不開心啊。

MM: See the poster outside the door? It says "Jumble Sale doors open at 10 o'clock", this tells you when you can take your old stuff here. And if you came earlier than 10 o'clock, you might have to wait outside for the door to open. 看到門外面的海報(bào)了嗎？上面寫著 “慈善義賣 10點(diǎn)開門”，這是告訴大家你可以來這的時(shí)間。如果你早于10點(diǎn)之前來了，那你得在外面等著開門哦。

MM: OK, now let's turn to next page to see what will happen on the jumble sale. 好啦，我們翻到下一頁看看慈善義賣上會(huì)發(fā)生什么事吧。

MM: The children wanted to buy something. "What a lot of junk!" said Wilf. 孩子們想買些東西。Wilf說：這么多東西大家都不需要了呀！

MM: Now we get a glimpse of the jumble sale. What a lof of people here, and they are all looking around to see what they might need. And Wilf is here too. 我先我們可以看到慈善義賣活動(dòng)上的場景啦。好多人呀，他們都在東瞧瞧，西逛逛，看看有沒有自己需要的東西。Wilf也來啦。

MM: Page 10 says the children wanted to buy something, what do you think they would like to buy? And what do you need to buy things? 第10頁上面說，孩子們想買些東西，那么你覺得他們會(huì)想要買什么呢？要買東西的話，要用到什么呢？

BB: I would say they want to buy their old toys back since they are not ready to say goodbye to them. And to buy things, you need to have money, of course. 要我說的話，他們想要把自己的舊玩具買回來，因?yàn)樗麄冞€沒有做好準(zhǔn)備說再見呢。要買東西，當(dāng)然是需要有錢啦。

MM: The children saw their toys. They counted their money. 孩子們看到他們的玩具啦。他們數(shù)著自己零錢。

MM: Wow, it must be not easy for them to find their old toys on such a big jumble sale. Why would they take out their money and count it? 哇，在這么大個(gè)慈善義賣上找到自己的玩具，肯定不容易吧?？墒牵麄?yōu)槭裁匆贸鲎约旱牧沐X，還要數(shù)一數(shù)呢？

BB: They are gonna buy these old toys back. And look, they look so happy when seeing these old toys again. 他們要把玩具再買回去嘛。你看，再次看到這些玩具，他們都好開心啊。

MM: It was time to go home. "What's in the bags?" said Mum. 該回家啦。媽媽問：袋子里裝了什么？

MM: Wow, look at the whole family, they are walking in line with Kipper in the front and Dad in back waving goodbye to the host of the jumble sale, and all the kids are carrying bags and Mum buys a pot of plant. 你看他們這一家子，排成一隊(duì)，Kipper走在最前面，爸爸走在最后面跟義賣的主持人揮手再見，孩子們還都提著一個(gè)袋子，媽媽呢，買了一小盆植物。

MM: I am wondering what might be in the bags, so is mum, who is also asking what is in the bags? So what do you think might be in the bags? 我在想袋子里會(huì)裝著什么呢？媽媽也在考慮這個(gè)問題呢，那么你覺得里面會(huì)裝著什么呢？

BB: It must their old toys that they bought on the jumble sale, and look at them, they are looking so happy, not sad as when they came to the jumble sale. 肯定是在慈善義賣上買回來的舊玩具咯。你看看他們一個(gè)個(gè)的都好開心呀，并不是像來的時(shí)候一個(gè)個(gè)都傷心的樣子。

MM: What do they take out from the bags? 孩子們從袋子里拿出來了什么呀？

BB: Their old toys.

MM: I think Mum might not believe her eyes to see the kids bought these old toys back. However, will she feel mad about the kids? Maybe not, she does not want to see the kids sad, either, right? 我覺得媽媽看到孩子們把舊玩具又買回來了，一定不敢相信自己的眼睛吧。但是呢，媽媽會(huì)生氣么？或許不會(huì)吧，畢竟媽媽也不希望看到孩子們不開心，對(duì)吧？
