每學(xué)期都有1次,孩子把他的work,achievement說明,present給家長。
Student-Led Conferencing is the biggest breakthrough in communicating about student achievement in the last century. When students are well prepared over an extended period to tell the story of their own success (or lack thereof), they seem to experience a fundamental shift in their internal sense of responsibility for that success. The pride in accomplishment that students feel when they have a positive story to tell and tell it well can be immensely motivational. The sense of personal responsibility that they feel when anticipating what it will be like to tell their story of poor achievement can also drive them to productive work.(Rich StiggensJ 2003)
The quote above effectively summarizes the power of Student-Led Conferencing. SLC's link students to their own assessment through meaningful reflection. SLC's encourage students to identify their strengths and areas to improve upon, encouraging them to become advocates for their own learning.
In brief, here are some advantages of SLC's:
./' increase communication between parents, teachers and students
./' develop student meta-cognition skills
./' allow parents to see their children as responsible, involved and proactive learners
./' teach continuous self-reflection and evaluation
./' remove students' potential feelings of helplessness by giving them control during conferences, letting them know what to expect
Please also note that the SLC model does not exclude parents from speaking with teachers on Conference day through scheduled appointment times. Further information will be forthcoming regarding how to make such appointments
Please make every effort possible to join us on our Parent - Teacher - Student Involved
Conferences during the 2012-13 academic year.
